Live display on a TV
The dark big-screen table for a TV, monitor or wall at the venue, updating within seconds.
What it's for
The Live display is the same dark FIS-style board the timer sees, drawn full-screen with no app chrome, for a TV at the finish, a monitor in the race office or a wall at the venue. It follows whichever race is live and updates by itself. Viewers can flip between Startlist, Run 1, Run 2 and Documents on the screen without changing what others see.
Before you start
- A screen with a browser and internet. Any current browser works; nothing is installed.
- The Live display tile set to Live or Test.
Steps
- Open the Live display's address on the screen (TBC: where the Live display address is shown for a surface set to Live; the Test link is on the tile while it is in Test).
- Put the browser in full screen.
- On the Timing Desk, press Columns & filters on the Live display tile to choose the columns and the filter. The filter you set here also groups the Timing Desk's own results.
- Set the tile to Live and switch Live timing on.
What success looks like
The board shows the race name, the run tabs and the rows in the columns you chose, and a new time appears on it within a few seconds of the finish impulse.
If something goes wrong
- The board is blank: the tile is Off, or Live timing is off (the chip says WAITING).
- The board shows the wrong race: the desk follows the ACTIVE RACE; change it in the header.
- The board stops updating: the screen keeps the last good frame and re-polls by itself. Check the screen's internet.
- A finished race stops showing LIVE; that is expected.
