How the live surfaces fit together
Off, Live, Test on each tile; what the TV, the public page, the phones and the draw wall each show; and who flips the switches.

What it's for
One race is timed on the desk; four surfaces can show it. Three are run from the Live control card at the top of the Timing Desk, each with its own columns, filter and Off / Live / Test switch; the fourth, the live draw wall, is run from the draw screen the evening before. Nothing reaches any of them until Live timing is on. This page says what each surface shows and who switches it.
The chain
- The event is active in the app — Race day › Activate an event makes this event the one the phones follow; without it the Live tab shows the previous event. The organiser or the timer does this, days before. → Activate an event
- The Live control card — on the Timing Desk: the Live timing switch (NOT LIVE / LIVE), the Forerunners tick, and one tile per surface with its preview, Columns & filters and its three-way switch. Set per race, by whoever runs the desk. → Live surfaces
- Off, Live or Test on each tile — Off shows nothing; Live shows the race on the surface's normal address; Test quietens the normal address and runs the surface on a private Test link ↗ that shows nowhere public, so a screen can be checked before the first racer. → Off, Live, Test
- Live display — the TV — the dark board, full screen, for the finish, the race office or a wall; viewers flip Startlist, Run 1, Run 2, Documents without changing what others see. Its filter also groups the desk's own results. → Live display on a TV
- Public live — the website — the race on the club's home
{club}.racebureau.comand on racebureau.live, and inside the club's own website through the embed snippet from Settings › Public look. → Public live and embedding · Club home and Public look - Phone live — Race Relay — the Live tab: one two-line card per competitor, for the race picked on the race bar. Its own columns and switch, separate from the TV. → Phone live · Live tab in Race Relay
- Live timing on — press the switch so it reads LIVE; each tile's chip turns ON AIR. A tile on Live with the switch off reads WAITING. → Live surfaces
- The live draw wall — the evening before, from the draw screen: 📡 Live draw ON and 🖥 Display ▾ send the draw as it happens to the meeting-room screen, the public page and the phones' Live tab; two live draws at a time across the platform. → Live draw wall · The draw wall's address
- After the race — a finished race stops reading LIVE; the results stay on the public page, and the race joins racebureau.live's Results and the
/racesarchive. → Races archive
Who switches what
- Live timing, the tiles and their columns: the person on the Timing Desk (organiser or invited timer), per race.
- Activate an event: the organiser or timer, on Race day or from the phone's ⚙︎ › Active event.
- The club's public home and its look: an account admin under Settings › Club details and Public look.
- Coaches, parents and spectators switch nothing: they pick the race on the race bar or open the club's home.
What success looks like
The status line reads Live timing is on — every surface is showing this race, the chips read ON AIR, and a finish lands on the TV, the public page and the phones within seconds of the impulse.
If something goes wrong
- A tile reads WAITING: it is on Live but Live timing is NOT LIVE.
- The phones show nothing: the Phone live tile is Off or Test, or the event is not the active one.
- The public page is blank: the tile is Off/Test, or the club's public home is not switched on.
- The TV shows the wrong race: the desk follows the ACTIVE RACE; change it in the header.
