What it's for

Card payments run on the club's own Stripe account. Race Bureau opens the checkout on that account; the money lands with the club, Stripe's fee comes off each payment, and Race Bureau never holds any of it. The STRIPE card on Club payments shows where the club stands:

  • Not connected: you have not started; card payments are off until you connect.
  • Set-up not finished: press Finish set-up to carry on where you left off.
  • Waiting for Stripe: Stripe is checking the details; usually minutes, sometimes a day or two.
  • Stripe needs more info: press Give Stripe the details; Stripe emails you too, and card payments can pause until it is done.
  • Ready to take payments: you can tick Card under Entry fees.

Before you start

  • The club's legal name, address and phone number; its NZBN or incorporated society or charity number if it has one.
  • The club's bank account number: Stripe pays the entry money into it.
  • For the person setting it up: name, date of birth, home address, and a driver licence or passport.
  • A mobile phone for a security code, and about 10 minutes.

Steps

  1. Open Settings › Money › Club payments.
The status badge and the one button
    The Stripe card
  2. Press Connect Stripe. Stripe's own page opens.
  3. Enter your email. Sign in if the club already has Stripe, or create a new Stripe account for the club.
  4. Tell Stripe about the club: the type of organisation, its legal name and address, and what you sell (race entries).
  5. Tell Stripe about yourself, as the person responsible. It may ask for a photo of your ID.
  6. Add the club's bank account.
  7. Check the summary and press Submit. Stripe brings you back to Club payments.
  8. Check the badge on the Stripe card. At Ready to take payments, tick Card under ENTRY FEES and press Save entry fees.

What success looks like

The badge reads Ready to take payments, the pay page shows a Pay NZ$… button, and a test card entry appears in the club's Stripe dashboard.

If something goes wrong

  • The card reads Card payments off: card payments are not switched on for the club yet; entries are paid later or at the desk. Ask Race Bureau support.
  • Stripe is not configured on this server: nothing on your side; tell Race Bureau support.
  • Stripe could not be reached — try again: the connection to Stripe failed; press Connect Stripe again.
