9 · Race Relay on the phone

What a coach or a parent saw during the event: joining the group, the chat, the Live tab, Docs and the Program.

What it's for

Race Relay is the phone side of the same event. While you ran chapters 6 to 8, the people on the invite link saw the chat, the live times and the released documents. This chapter is their view.

The event on a phone

Before you start

  • The event group's Invite link from Event access & chat (chapter 2, step 11), sent to the person.

Steps

  1. Open the link on the phone. The page Join a race-day group asks for Your name, Email and Phone (optional). Press Join.

  2. The page says "You're in" and "One more step — we've emailed you a link. Open it on this phone." Open the email, press Yes — confirm my email, then Open RaceRelay.
  3. Chats shows the club card with Public · Spectators and the event group under it, and a race bar at the top: the race name, a green LIVE pill when timing is on, and a NEXT — | ON COURSE — line that follows the desk.

  4. Tap the event group. Messages from the timer and organisers appear here; a released document posts as a card (📄 New official document … Open ›). Long-press a message to reply, react or copy.
  5. Tap Live. The top shows NEXT, ON COURSE and LAST FINISH with the bib, name and time; below it Startlist and Run 1 tabs with the ranking — each finish lands within seconds.

  6. Tap Docs. Until something is shared it reads "Nothing shared yet"; after chapter 8 the Official Results card is here. Tap to open, pinch to zoom; hold for ↗ (share to another group) and 📲 (WhatsApp).
  7. Tap Program. It shows the officials, the start times per run and the inspection and forerunner times — "Times follow the ROC's run sheet", so the run sheet from chapter 2 is what they see.
  8. A coach uses the same app; what a coach sees of their own athletes (claiming, racing / not racing, confirmations) is TBC — the coach door could not be walked on this build.

What success looks like

On the phone the race bar reads LIVE while you time, the Live tab's ranking matches the desk, and the released results appear in Docs and as a card in the event group.

If something goes wrong

  • The join page comes back blank after Join: it was submitted too fast or the fields were empty. Fill them again and wait a moment before pressing Join.
  • "Link not valid": the group was not set up yet or the link was regenerated — get a fresh one from Event access & chat.
