What it's for

The simple layout (Timing Layout 2) is the same desk — the same model, the same handlers, the same dialogs — drawn for a finger: one tab at a time, rows at least 44 px, nothing scrolling sideways. Simple desk in the header switches to it; Full desk switches back. The choice is per window and remembered on this device.

The tabs along the bottom:

  • Chrono — the timing screen: the Start list (N to go, the queue with Next to start, ↑ ↓, Add a bib), On course with the light on its heading (RACE OPEN), and Finish with Bib, Competitor, Hour cell and the run time. Chrono only hides the start list and gives the whole screen to the course and the finish.
  • Inter — only when the race has intermediates: the racers between the start and the last intermediate, with Inter 1, Inter 2 … and Speed. The course heading then reads On course to Finish, and +N before the intermediate opens Inter.
  • Times — every impulse (All, Start, Finish) as Impulses or the Journal.
  • Start list — the run's list with Edit… and Produce Run 2 start list.
  • Results — the ranking per run.
  • Settings — the desk settings (see Settings).

Above the tabs: the window tabs (Timing 1, + Add), ⟳ Sync, and Ranking › Event (the race's own rule) or Run (this run's times).

Steps

  1. Press Simple desk in the header.
  2. Tap a racer's row. Their buttons appear under it: the statuses (DNS …), False start / False finish, Re-run, Missed impulse, Clear, Change number, Change bib, Swap bib, Modify….
  3. Tap an impulse in Times for Give a number, Mark valid, Insert passage, Duplicate this row and Change the time….
  4. Drag the grip between the areas to show more or fewer rows; double-tap it to share the screen again.
  5. Press Full desk to go back.

What success looks like

On an iPad, every control is under a finger, no tab scrolls sideways, and a tap on Next to start highlights the racer and opens their buttons.

If something goes wrong

  • DQP reads Planned — not available yet here: give it on the full desk.
  • The light sits on On course; on a dual race each course has its own light on its own heading.
  • nobody waiting: the start list is empty for this run. Prepare it under Start list › Edit….
