Categories
Your account's category scheme (U14, U16, Masters…) by gender and birth year, applied to the event's Category field when you say so.
What it's for
Categories holds the brackets the Category field is calculated from: a name, who it applies to (Men, Women or both) and an inclusive birth-year range. The scheme is saved for the account and reused on every event. Nothing is written into the competitors until you press ▶ Apply to this event.
Before you start
- The birth-year ranges your series uses this season.
Steps
- Open Entries › Categories. The Categories dialog opens.
One row per bracket: gender, year min, year max, category - Press ⊕ to add a row and fill in GENDER, YEAR MIN, YEAR MAX and CATEGORY. Where two rows overlap, the higher row wins; move rows with ↑ and ↓. ✕ removes a row.
- Next season, press +1Y to roll every range forward one year (−1Y rolls back).
- Press ✓ Save to keep the scheme.
- To write the brackets into this event, choose the field under Apply to this event, writing into (Category, or Custom 1–3) and press ▶ Apply to this event.
What success looks like
Every competitor on the event carries the right category in the field you chose, and the scheme is there on the next event without retyping.
If something goes wrong
- The dialog warns The Category field is switched off in Competitor fields: applied values are stored but will not show until you switch the field on in Competitor fields. Nothing here switches it on for you.
- A competitor has no category: their birth year is outside every row, or their gender does not match the row.
